How we rank

Search results. In this first version the list of web results comes from Brave Search, in the order Brave gives. The main factors there are: how well a page matches your search, the language and the country, how recent the page is and how reliable the site is. We don't change that order, except that we leave out results removed after a report.

AI answer. The answer uses only the results fetched from Brave Search and cites them with a number. For health, law, tax and money we give priority to official sources (government, registers). If sources disagree, the answer says so.

Businesses. The order depends on how well a business matches the search and the place, and on how complete and up to date its details are. An account in Business Manager, a connected website or our WordPress plugin gives no higher position.

What we don't show. For searches for child sexual abuse we show no results, but a pointer to help.

Not for sale. You can't buy a higher position. If we ever show paid listings or ads, they will be clearly marked Ad, and we will change this page first.

Your settings. Language, region and safe search decide which results you see. We don't use a profile of you.
